All Wizards, Muggles and Magical Creatures Are Welcome for This Free Fest
I’m a huge fan of the Fayetteville, NC area. There is so much to see and do in the area that a family can visit for a few days and never run out of things to do. The area restaurants offer great food choices and there are some great places to stay too!
Fayetteville is such a family friendly spot, I wasn’t at all surprised when they announced the two day Magical World of Wizardry in downtown Fayetteville. And, the absolute best part – it’s FREE!
A free two-day fest is sure to delight both Potter fans and others just discovering the Potter universe. The two-day event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on November 16 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on November 17.
Visitors are asked to start their journey, whether on Friday or Saturday, by checking in at the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum on Franklin Street. There, participants pick up the materials for a Horcrux Hunt, in which they search for four pieces of Voldemort’s soul. The hunt continues until Saturday closing ceremonies.
Friday evening features a Jelly Bean tasting, live readings, folks in costume and a kid’s parade. On Saturday, guests can walk through the Forbidden Forest on Anderson Street, create wands and participate in a Sorting Hat Ceremony at Hogwarts (the Arts Council), create cookies* and more. Adults can indulge in butter beer tastings and can attend a “Potion’s Class” at The Wine Café.*
Guests are asked to gather at the Market House at 5 p.m. Saturday for closing ceremonies. All award winners will be announced at that time.
“Magical World of Wizardry” is not associated in any way with JK Rowling, the Harry Potter franchise or Warner Brothers.
* While the festival is free, there are a few activities that will require a registration fee, such as a cookie decorating class, an {Adult} Potion’s class and more.
I hope to see you there!
