2020! What a year! Now that 2021 is just about half way over, 2020 seems, to some of us, to be long gone and over. Others are still struggling a bit to get all that happened in 2020 behind them. It’s time to move on as much as each of us can and what better way to move on than with hoping to go on a vacation.
Family vacations have always been a time for me to chill and spend time with the people I cherish the most. However, family vacations can sometimes be a challenge. Depending on the size of your family you may need several hotel rooms. Several hotel rooms mean lots of money! Eating out can be a nightmare. The average per person cost of dinner out is $50.
Win an Orlando Vacation
Those are just a couple of reasons why I choose to visit Orlando with my entire family and stay at a vacation home instead of at one of the thousands of hotels in the area. I always choose Characters Corner Vacation Home. Just like hotels – not all vacation home rentals are equal.
Characters Corner Vacation Home is the answer to large group (or even just your family) travels. Sometimes hotels just won’t work. Having space for a large group can get expensive when you think about needing 2 or 3 rooms to accommodate everyone, especially in Orlando.
The home can sleep 12 easily! What a great place to have a family reunion or group trip ~ all within a short drive to all of the Orlando attractions!
The home offers a huge in-ground pool for you and your family to enjoy, surrounded by a hot tub/spa and a Mickey Mouse kiddie pool. The gourmet kitchen, with island and attached eat-in kitchen table area, offers all of the comforts of home including dishes, pots and pans. No need to spend hundreds each day eating in high-priced restaurants!
So – are you wondering how you can stay at Characters Corner Vacation Home? Well, you can rent it, of course, through the website. Consider the fact that 2 families can easily share the cost of a week in the home and their cost would be very far below a traditional hotel vacation. Everyone would have their own space!
Or you can buy a raffle ticket – for $25 – and enter for your chance to win a week long stay at Characters Corner Vacation Home. Along with the week long stay comes some theme park tickets and a Visa gift card too for extras!
The raffle I am recommending is being held as a fundraiser for an organization I work with – Patrick Lives On. The organization has been in existence for 5 years. Each year Patrick Lives On held two in-person events to raise funds. 2020 – well, we all know what happened in 2020! No in-person events were held. No funds were raised. Without funds Patrick Lives On will struggle to continue.
About Patrick Lives On
The founder of Patrick Lives On, Patricia Frontain, lost her son to a senseless act of violence on January 2, 2015. She took her grief and turned it into a powerful non-profit to help at-risk teens.
Patrick was walking home from the gym. The gym was near an apartment complex in Rosemont, Illinois. At the apartment complex, there was an argument between two rival gang members. Someone pulled out a gun and shot at their rivals and anyone close by – Patrick was shot in the neck as he was running away. He was running back home. He died immediately. Patrick’s mother started Patrick Lives On…To End Gun Violence in 2016 as a way to honor Patrick and help her community.
Patrick Lives On has successfully funded $60K in individual scholarships to over 200 students; $30K to 20 organizations who help enable teens; $13K to high school programs; and, $3.5K through the Patrick Boswell Courage Award to 8th grade students.
Patrick Lives On has produced 31 Public Service Announcements which are distributed nationally. These moving PSAs are part of a series entitled “Shattered – Gun Violence Shatters Lives” and “The Domino Effect – Every Action Has A Reaction”. Patricia is a script supervisor for the popular CHICAGO PD show and actors from CHICAGO PD, CHICAGO MED and CHICAGO FIRE star in these public service announcements.
The Patrick Lives On Film Collective is made up of short films produced to inspire, educate, and enable change. They may be used as a starting point to unlock the viewer’s courage – enabling them to move through grief or remove themselves from domestic violence and gangs. Settings suited for screening these films include schools, counseling centers, detention centers, and youth clubs. The collection currently has 2 completed short films. A third film, UNKNOWING, deals with a gang’s manipulation of a young boy’s mind and how exposure to gang violence turns his world upside down. Shooting was postponed last spring due to the pandemic, however, filming began just last month in Chicago.
The Fundraising Raffle
2020 fundraising efforts were seriously impacted by the pandemic. Patrick Lives On was not able to hold any in-person events. These events had always been the normal mode of fundraising. A new way to fundraise was needed.
When searching for sponsors to help with fundraising efforts, the owners of Characters Corner Vacation Home were immediately willing to donate the use of their home as the main prize.
