Walt Disney World® Resort announced last week that Disney’s Polynesian Resort is getting a new name. Well, actually not a new name but the Polynesian will be returning to the name it had when it opened in 1971 – Disney’s Polynesian Resort Village.
As part of the re-imagining of the resort many “village” type qualities will appear including the Disney Vacation Club Bungalows that are currently under construction over the water. There will be renovated guests rooms, an updated pool and a re-imagined Great Ceremonial House. Unfortunately, as part of the re-imagining of the Great Ceremonial House, rumor has the beautiful fountain that many love being removed.
In happier news, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will be opening at the Polynesian. Trader Sam’s is one of the most popular and famous spots for a great cocktail and a fun time at the Disneyland® Resort in California. I am really looking forward to being able to enjoy Trader Sam’s without having to travel to California!
