New York, New York. It’s the city that never sleeps, and if you’re lucky enough to spend a weekend here then you’ll be catching all of its constant magic. Whether you decide to hit the hay early or head out to see what’s showcased under the bright lights of its bustling streets, there are a few sights that certainly aren’t to be missed.

We’ve put together 5 of the things that have to be seen to be believed for weekend visitors to the city.

#1: Chelsea Market

With all of New York’s culinary delights under one roof, Chelsea Market is a hub for foodies and market fanatics alike. Get a bite to eat here and watch the world go by, and we can guarantee that you won’t regret it.

From mouth-watering seafood to Mexican cuisine and desserts that will blow you away, you won’t be disappointed as you let your tastebuds guide you through this NYC staple. Just make sure that you leave some room for dessert!

#2: SoHo

A tour of SoHo should certainly make its way onto your weekend list, and it’s the vibe of this buzzing neighborhood that we love the most. With first-class boutiques for luxury fashion fanatics and art galleries for those who want to invite a bit of culture into their time in the city, SoHo has something for everybody.

If you want to take a little piece of this trendy area home with you, then purchase some unique artwork from the street vendors as you wander around.

#3: Empire State Building

Constructed in just over a year – we have no idea how either! – the Empire State Building opened its grandiose doors in 1931. Boasting 102 storeys and offering views across the city, heading to the top of the building isn’t for the faint of heart, but it will be a memorable experience.

Just thank your lucky stars as you see the photographs of workers on the highest storeys of the structure, with nothing to keep them safe. We’ll pass, thank you.

#4: The Metropolitan Museum of Art

You’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s absolutely impossible to pick out an art gallery to visit in this creative city, and there’s no way that you could see them all in one weekend. However, the Met is the largest art museum in the US, and boasts some of the most famous pieces around.

Think Monet, Van Gogh, and various other heroes of the art world. An afternoon spent here is a vital addition to your itinerary, especially if you’re an art mega-fan.

#5: Central Park

Covering 843 acres, Central Park is a blissful haven nestled deep within the action of Manhattan. Whilst you’ll see an impressive amount of joggers and people just enjoying a walk around here, there are also many other reasons to swing by.

The park’s Turtle Pond is, you guessed it, home to five different species of turtles who enjoy soaking up that NYC summer sunshine! With live entertainment also on offer at every other turn and plenty of surprises tucked up its sleeves, Central Park is definitely a place worth visiting.

Enjoy your weekend in NYC!
