Vacation Destinations Budget

With summer right around the corner and some vacation time coming up, here’s hoping you can get away with the family, on a couples trip or a friends long weekend. You don’t have to break the bank to do it. Below are some great places to visit that are amazing destinations and can be done on a budget.

Myrtle Beach, SC

If you are an east coaster, this is a fabulous place to take the family on a long weekend in the summer, offering many family friendly activities, reasonably priced accommodations and some great food. The area also offers fun for couples and friends, with quite a few great night life spots. You can even get a week’s stay for well under $1000 that includes some of the best accommodations and in some outstanding resorts right on the beach.  If you are a golfer, this is your spot. There are many gorgeous courses to choose from. You can also check out packages for the area’s waterparks that many of the resorts offer all summer long.

Outer Banks, NC

You can’t go wrong with the serene beaches of the Outer Banks of NC.  The best deals are for vacation house rentals and in June and September, but if you do a “sharecation” with another family, you can rent a great house right on the beach for a fraction of the cost of a resort hotel. There’s lots to do, including fishing, snorkeling, and great seafood restaurants.  It’s not a bustling place with clubs and bars, so it’s perfect as a family vacation spot.

Nashville, TN

Not just for country music lovers, Nashville offers so many other great things to do.  If you are a foodie, the restaurant scene is awesome and everything is within walking distance if you stay downtown. Pick a hotel with a kitchen and save on breakfast, but hit some of the best BBQ spots for lunch or dinner. The music scene is amazing here so check out some of the packages and tours that you can take while visiting.

Washington, DC

This is such a perfect place for a family vacation because the tours and free museums are endless. If you visit during a weekend, there are many markets you can hit to get great deals on souvenirs, art, and unique gifts. Yes, it’s our nation’s capital, so don’t forget to check out the White House. The best place for a picnic (just pick up some cheap grub for everyone) is at the Washington Monument and its park areas.

Sedona, AZ

Head west, my friend.  If you really want an adventure to see some beautiful sites, this is your vacation. Taking a Pink Beach Jeep Tour will thrill everyone as you ride through the desert. Check out Oak Creek Canyon too for some stunning views and family photo opportunities.  The kids will love Slide Rock State Park for its natural rock formations of water slides.

Williamsburg, VA

You can’t go wrong with this area for vacation. There is everything to do!  Visit Colonial Williamsburg for some fun history and interactive movies that you can get for free in most museums. There are package deals that include Colonial Williamsburg all summer, but if you go in the off season, you will save some money and still get all the perks of the area.

Vacations can happen on a tight budget, just plan ahead and look for the best deals.  You may even end up visiting a place you never thought of, so sign up for some travel sites and apps for your phone!
