The first ride we decided on was new to us – the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem® ride. We just love the flight simulator 3-D rides. It is about Gru, his daughters, and the mischievous minions. They have a machine to turn everyone into minions! A cast member told us it held 88 people per ride and could have almost 1000 people through it in an hour. Although the line for the ride was long at times – up to a 95 minute wait for some, wee were able to ride it about ten times with our on-site hotel Universal Unlimited Pass®. It is really worth staying on-site! We loved our passes!
The next ride we decided on was the new ride, Transformers: The Ride-3D®. This attraction has riders fighting alongside the Autobots and Optimus Prime in a 3-D battle against Megatron and the Deceptions. This ride is similar to The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® in the way the vehicles moved. It was very thrilling and exciting, especially in 3-D! At the end we did save the planet! We were able to ride this several times also. The staff was great – one named Whitney was so full of personality – she allowed us to take pictures of her for our story. She was so nice and was our favorite! She got the crew together for a group picture with us while the ride was down for a few minutes! We were having fun, fun, and fun! We even waited in line to ride again with some of the cast and upper management in the park for the Harry Potter Celebration. No, we did not get any pictures or autographs!
We visited Universal Studios Orlando® for two days and Universal’s Islands of Adventure® one day. There was one more new land and ride at Universal Studios Florida®. This was the new Simpson area. It had the games that seemed to be moved from the Jaws® area and redesigned to fit the theme. Also, there was a new ride called, Kang & Kudos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl®.
We were also able to visit the American Express® Lounge. It was very nice for a break. It had Television, chargers, snacks, and bottled water. It was all free with an American Express® card. Very nice break area!
We also walked around the new, Diagon Alley® area. This will be great when it is finished. It looks almost finished in the front. We will all enjoy riding the train to Hogwarts®, just like the movie. Also, the Gringotts Wizarding Bank® Ride, Wow! This summer when it opens it will be very busy! It will be just like walking in the movie! We are big Harry Potter® fans. We love the movies! We can hardly wait to come back and see the new area, and ride the new ride! Oh, how spectacular it will be. One bird wanted his picture taken while we were in that area, so we took his picture up close before he flew away. He thought we had some food.
It was fun to do something new. We do not go to Universal Studios Orlando® often. It was a short three day which didn’t allow us to everything – not enough time for that!
