It is said that the secret to a happy and fulfilling career is to “do what you love” – find something you love, that you feel passionate about, and turn that into your career. While it sounds like a simplified statement, it really does ring true more often than not. If you can translate that hobby or interest you have in life into a career, it’s not even going to feel like work; it will be something you want to dive right into, and each day will feel exciting and new.

Turn Your Love of Travel into a Business

travel into a business

Why do you love to travel? For me, the exposure to new places and new people can be really reviving personally and also eye opening to see how other people live. Travel is the ultimate adventure that exposes you to new types of people, different ways of living, and opens up your mind. Some travel, takes me out of my comfort zone and inherently breeds challenge.

I love to travel for a few reasons. It automatically makes me a more curious being. You are a traveler, tourist, backpacker, etc and even the most basic thing on a trip becomes an adventure – like catching a bus between cities. Travel makes me hyper aware of my surroundings and I always appreciate the beauty or intrigue of a new land and culture. When I travel and then return home, I see home in a whole new light. Each time I return home, I once again think that I MUST investigate, admire and enjoy my own city and state.

If you happen to have a love of travel, then you may be interested to learn how you can turn that passion into a business venture. We’ve got some great ideas that could be very appealing to you.

Share Your Passion and Become a Travel Writer

Do you have a flair for words? Do you love talking about the various destinations you’ve visited, telling your friends and family all about your experiences? If so, then you may have what it takes to explore a career as a travel writer. This allows you to travel to different destinations, dig in and really explore the culture, dining, architecture, and history and share your passion and knowledge with others. As a travel writer, you’ll also have the ability to work from anywhere in the world, leaving the door open to as much touring and exploring as you want.

Help Others with Travel by Becoming a Travel Agent

Many don’t think about using a travel agent – many still do for a variety of reasons. Perhaps you like the idea of being able to help others, and you want to combine that with your love of travel. If that’s the case, starting your own travel agency could be a fabulous goal to work towards. As a travel agent, it will also be helpful to continue your own travels so that you can give clients the inside scoop when they book trips and tours.

Sell Travel-Related Products and Items

Then there is the retail angle, wherein you could open your own shop that sells travel-related products and items. So, what does that include? Some of the top travel-related products are:

  • Luggage of all sizes and types
  • Wearable tech that makes travel smoother
  • Travel pouches
  • Reusable bottles for on-the-go travel
  • Packing cubes and bags
  • Clothing
  • Luggage tags and locks

If you do like the idea of setting up a shop in the immediate future, be sure to also consider COVID-19 safety protocols. As the world slowly starts to open back up to travel, you want to be sure your shop is welcoming and safe for customers. This includes ensuring physical distancing, perhaps installing Sneeze Guard kits, providing hand sanitization stations, and making sure everything is kept clean at all times. These measures will help to establish your business as one that cares about its customers and their health.

If travel is what you feel excited and passionate about, why not look for ways to translate it into the ultimate career that you are excited to dive into?
