I have to admit I am one of the few odd balls that really DO NOT like the Dole Whip! I have tried it several times and each time I have either given it away or thrown it in the trash. For the life of me I don’t understand the cult-like following of this treat. The one and only time I was a fan of the Dole Whip was when my friend Ami Brundwick-Eller of Disney Goddess, dressed as a Dole Whip for last year’s Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party! That was a Dole Whip I loved!
The Dole Whip can only be found at a few locations – Aloha Isle in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom and at the Polynesian Resort at Captain Cook’s (I may be wrong about this but not being a fan I’m not really up on where you can get it!). It is made using pineapple juice and pineapple soft serve – and I love pineapple so not really sure why I’m not a fan of the Dole Whip!
Since the Dole Whip is so popular, our friends at Disney have incorporated it into this years Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival – introducing the Dole Whip with Spiced Rum! This treat can be found at the Pineapple Promenade booth located on the Canada side of the World Showcase. Rumors are that due to the popularity of the Dole Whip in the Magic Kingdom, the lines at the Pineapple Promenade booth have been quite long.
The Dole Whip with Spiced Rum being served in Epcot for the International Flower and Garden Festival is not as large as the version sold in the MK. It is more along the size of the one you purchase at the Polynesian Resort at Captain Cook’s. It is also not the float version – it is a regular Dole Whip drizzled with Spiced Rum, and it has been reported to have a butterscotchy flavor.
So in the spirit of research… so I am able to give an accurate account… I will in early May sample the Dole Whip with Spiced Rum (even though I am not a fan of the original Dole Whip). I will let you all know what I think!
