Pixar’s Coco Newest Trailer – Welcome to the Land of the Dead!

Pixar Coco Trailer Welcome Land Dead

The more I see of Pixar’s Coco, the more I am looking forward to it opening in November. This newest trailer for Pixar’s Coco is full of drama, laughs and absolutely gorgeous and colorful visuals. I am a huge fan of Mexican art because of the colorful way it all tells a story. I recently toured a museum in Texas that was so full of Mexican art I could have stayed all day moving from exhibit to exhibit. Even without the story, Coco reminds me of the Mexican art I adore. Add in the story and I can’t wait for the release of this movie.

The trailer shows Miguel finding his way to the Land of the Dead. Coco follows Miguel, who loves music but lives in a town where there is a music ban, as he learns his long deceased great-great grandfather, Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt), was an iconic guitarist, and Miguel wants to follow in his footsteps. After playing his great-great-grandfather’s guitar, which was kept in his crypt with his remains, Miguel enters the Land of the Dead to find Cruz. The inhabitants of that world are also looking for the living boy. If Miguel stays, he will become a skeleton. Although this all seems morbid and scary, the trailer really shows us how lighthearted and colorful the film will be.

Inspired by the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos, a time when the living honor family members who have passed, I think the film will also explain to many this Mexican tradition – because each and every Pixar film not only tells a story – but also teaches some lessons!

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Featurette – Creating Traditions!

Olafs Frozen Adventure

I admit it – when everyone else has said they are done listening to “Let It Go” – I’m still a sucker for Frozen. Anything Frozen. All things Frozen! I am anxiously awaiting Pixar’s Coco in November and I’m even more anxious now that I know the newest short before Coco will be a Walt Disney Animation Studios featurette – Olaf’s Frozen Adventure!

Olaf‘s Frozen Adventure,” a new featurette from Walt Disney Animation Studios, will play in front of Pixar’s upcoming feature, Coco, this November.

Featuring four new original songs, the 21-minute featurette will welcome the original cast and characters back to the big screen, including Olaf (voice of Josh Gad), who is on a mission to harness the best holiday traditions for Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel) and Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff). Directed by Emmy®-winning filmmakers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (“Prep & Landing”), produced by Oscar® winner Roy Conli (“Big Hero 6”), with original songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson (“Between the Lines”), OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE will be in theaters for a limited time beginning November 22.

“I’m thrilled that Disney Animation’s featurette OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE will be coming to theaters in November with Pixar’s COCO, said John Lasseter, chief creative officer, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. “It’s a perfect pairing – they’re both beautiful, heartfelt films about families and how people carry traditions forward. I can’t wait for audiences to get to see both of these terrific projects together on the big screen.”

“Stevie and I were deeply honored to be entrusted by John [Lasseter] to create an all-new story with these characters we love,” said Deters. “We’re thrilled to have our film play on the big screen with COCO during the holidays.”

“We loved getting in the recording booth with these incredible actors who know their characters inside and out,” added Wermers-Skelton. “We can’t wait for audiences to see the featurette, enjoy their performances, and hear the incredible new songs written by Elyssa and Kate.”

OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE celebrates characters who won over audiences worldwide when FROZEN first hit the big screen in 2013. Earning more than $1.27 billion globally, the film won two Academy Awards® (best animated film and best original song with “Let It Go”) and a Golden Globe® (best animated feature film). Slated for November 2019, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ untitled feature-length follow-up to the hit film reunites filmmakers Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck and Peter Del Vecho with the Grammy®- and Oscar®-winning songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

ABOUT WALT DISNEY ANIMATION STUDIOS’ “OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE”

When the townspeople unexpectedly leave early to enjoy their individual holiday customs, the sisters realize they have no family traditions of their own. So, Olaf sets out to comb the kingdom to bring home the best traditions and save this first Christmas for his friends. Directed by Emmy®-winning filmmakers Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton (“Prep & Landing”), produced by Oscar® winner Roy Conli (“Big Hero 6”), and featuring a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer and four original songs by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” opens in front of Disney•Pixar’s original feature “Coco” in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2017.

Coco from Pixar Latest Trailer – #Coco

Coco Pixar

Coco follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who sets off a chain of events relating to a century-old mystery, leading to an extraordinary family reunion. Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz . Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself magically transported to the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.

The trailer gives us a glimpse at the film’s warm, gentle humor and some of the themes that will drive its plot. After a very special guitar transports a young boy and his dog to the Land of the Dead, he meets some long-departed relatives and that’s where it all begins!! Thanks to the two trailers available for Coco, it’s already obvious that this film from Pixar will be a visually compelling masterpiece.

The main inspiration for Coco is Día de Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday that takes place every year at the end of October to honor the dead. Most of us are familiar with festival goers painting their faces like skeletons, but that doesn’t make Día de Muertos gloomy in the slightest — it’s a colorful celebration that is central to Mexican culture, and has been acknowledged in many other countries. The colorful story of Coco will surely be outstanding!

This past weekend at the D23 EXPO in Anaheim, CA, numerous talent and filmmakers from Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios introduced fans to array of new stories and characters—from a lost dinosaur to a master wayfinder, a scheming fox to a forgetful fish. The audience of 7,500 was treated to sneak peeks, musical performances and appearances from stars like Ellen DeGeneres, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, Ginnifer Goodwin, Dwayne Johnson, Randy Newman and Ty Burrell, among others.

John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, led the presentations, calling on a host of filmmakers from both studios to introduce the upcoming slate of films. “We really have an unbelievable range of movies in production at our studios right now,” said Lasseter. “The stories are dynamic, fresh and so much fun; the characters new and old are so appealing. In this world, we meet up with a very special family of T-Rexes, who help Arlo find a way through his personal fears and ultimately teach Arlo what he’s truly made of.”

FINDING DORY (#FindingDory)

DO I KNOW YOU? — In Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory,” everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), encounters an array of new—and old—acquaintances, including a cantankerous octopus named Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill). Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”), co-directed by Angus MacLane and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”), “Finding Dory” swims into theaters June 17, 2016.

Ellen DeGeneres (“The Ellen DeGeneres Show”), the voice of everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang, took a dip with D23 EXPO attendees this afternoon, celebrating Disney·Pixar’s upcoming film FINDING DORY. Joining DeGeneres on stage this afternoon were Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family”), who lends his voice to Hank, a cantankerous octopus; Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”), the voice of Bailey, a misguided beluga whale; and Kaitlin Olson (“Always Sunny in Philadelphia”), who voices Destiny, a kind-hearted whale shark. Oscar®-winning Director Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”), co-director Angus MacLane and Producer Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”) offered details about the all-new story, which reunites Dory with friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?

Said Stanton, “In FINDING DORY, we can expect to address the one emotionally open-ended issue that remained from the first movie: Where is Dory’s family, and will this overly-optimistic fish with short-term memory loss ever be able to find them again? Her issue has also given us the opportunity to travel to very different locations, on land and sea, and meet a variety of new sea creatures that expand the world of Nemo, Marlin and Dory.”

Also featuring the voices of Albert Brooks, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton, Disney·Pixar’s FINDING DORY swims into theaters June 17, 2016

TOY STORY 4 / TOY STORY 20th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION (#ToyStory4)

Pixar Animation Studios marks the 20th Anniversary of TOY STORY this year. Said Lasseter, “All the characters from ‘Toy Story’—especially Woody and Buzz—are so close to us. They seem more like family members than just creations. Not only do we dearly love the characters, but we also love the world of ‘Toy Story’—the world where toys come to life when people are not in the room has always been rich with many story possibilities.”

Lasseter, who’s one of Pixar’s three founders, celebrated 20 years since TOY STORY transformed the animation industry and the art of storytelling. He welcomed to the stage iconic two-time Oscar®-winning songwriter and longtime Pixar collaborator Randy Newman, whose Pixar credits include “Toy Story,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Toy Story 2,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Cars.”

Also joining in the celebration were TOY STORY 4 co-director Josh Cooley (“Cars 2,” “Ratatouille”) and Producer Galyn Susman (“Toy Story OF TERROR!”). Screenwriters Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (“Celeste & Jesse Forever”) joined Buzz, Woody and Bo Peep for the celebration. “I’m very proud of our films,” said Lasseter. “When we made the first three TOY STORY films, we didn’t realize what we had done was to change the genre of each of the films’ story. For TOY STORY 4, we are doing a type of story we have not done before: a love story. It’s a story about a relationship between Woody and Bo Peep. “

TOY STORY 4, which will be directed by Lasseter and produced by Susman, is slated for release on June 16, 2017.

gigantic

GIGANTIC (#Gigantic)

Things are looking up at Walt Disney Animation Studios – way up. GIGANTIC, Disney’s unique take on “Jack and the Beanstalk,” will feature music from Oscar®-winningsongwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who greeted D23 EXPO fans in signature style—in song—alongside Director Nathan Greno (“Tangled”) andProducer Dorothy McKim (“Get A Horse!”).

“I always wanted to be part of the Disney legacy,” said Greno. “I loved those classic stories brought to life—‘Snow White’ or ‘Cinderella’—in a way that made those films the definitive version for generations. I want to carry on that tradition by bringing ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to modern audiences. We’re taking parts of the story we all remember and adding twists and turns, emotion and humor.”

Set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, Disney’s GIGANTIC follows adventure-seeker Jack as he discovers a world of giants hidden within the clouds. He hatches a grand plan with Inma, a 60-foot-tall, 11-year-old girl, and agrees to help her find her way home. But he doesn’t account for her super-sized personality—and who knew giants were so down to earth? GIGANTIC hits theaters in 2018.

coco

COCO (#Coco)

Director Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”) and Producer Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”) revealed the title of their upcoming film: Disney·Pixar’s COCO is the celebration of a lifetime, where the discovery of a generations-old mystery leads to a most extraordinary and surprising family reunion.

“As artists and filmmakers, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the striking visuals of Dia de los Muertos,” said Unkrich and Anderson. “But it was the celebration’s core themes of family, remembrance and connection across generations that resonated within and truly inspired us. Dia de los Muertos is as singular as the Mexican culture, while at the same time completely universal in its message.

“In our story,” they continued, “the celebration of Dia de los Muertos serves as the perfect backdrop for our main character to ask where he comes from, what his place is within his family, and how families stay woven together across time through the simple act of remembrance.”

The animated films from Pixar and Disney Animation Studios are always my favorites and I can’t wait for this group to get going!
