One thing I love about Disney is there is always something new to experience every time I visit. This proved to be the case at Disney Social Media Moms last month in Disneyland, too. I was thrilled to find out runDisney was having a 2 mile Fun Run. All of my favorite worlds were colliding–Disney, social media, running, costumes, and Cars Land! 5:00 wake-up call? That’s like 2 hours later than my usual runDisney wake-up calls. Holla!
runDisney runs and races are always fun. This was no exception. When you run through Disney Parks, you can’t go wrong. Some fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists and I had a theme with our costumes–can you guess? Apparently I don’t runDisney without a theme anymore. We were all excited to support Faith, the runDisney mom as she was leading the run/walk group. We all started out together, but they were doing a :30/:30 interval which aggravates my ITB, so my friend Lynette ran ahead with me as we tried to catch up to the run group. We were distracted by shiny castles though.
I, for once, finished with enough time..and energy to be able to cheer the other runners on as they crossed the finish line. It was electrifying! I loved being on the other side, like a proud momma, a proud friend. I felt a connection to people I didn’t know. To see each smile, each grin, each ounce of pride, each fist pump, each hug, each sigh of relief…it reminded me of when I started running. The feeling of ‘I did it! I can do anything!’ You feel invincible after accomplishing a goal you had doubts you could accomplish.
Afterwards people posted their new running/fitness goals and how they were inspired to sign up for future runDisney races. The inspiration was moving. So what did I do when I got home? I registered for my first marathon–the Walt Disney World Marathon. Ka-chow!
