Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside has been my favorite moderate resort for a long. Until this past May when I stayed and was not able to get the building location I requested. My room was literally the last room in the most far away building from everything! It seemed like the walk was miles. I decided then to spread my wings and start looking for a new moderate resort and I found it recently at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter.
The price is right! The size is perfect and it’s on the same property as one of favorite restaurants – Boatwright’s Dining Hall, and I swear the walk from French Quarter to Boatwright’s at Riverside was shorter than my walk from my room to Boatwright’s the last time I stayed on Riverside property!
I have to admit that the food court at French Quarter, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, is not anywhere near as good as the food court at Riverside – Riverside Mill Food Court. The offerings are not as varied and apart from the beignets, I really didn’t find the food court all that appetizing. It is fine for breakfast but nothing else in my opinion.
The rooms are nicely done and the grounds are the perfect size for strolling along and seeing the entire resort.
Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter is definitely on my list of moderates that I would consider staying at all the time. The grounds are colorful, there’s something for everyone and it’s a short walk over to Riverside. No matter where your room is located, it’s a short walk to bus transportation to the parks and the main building.
