There are so many different streaming services available it can be difficult to decide which one is best for you. The average cable costs in the US can be over $100 per month, leaving many families with no choice but to cut the cable! Streaming services provide a low-cost alternative and have proven they can match the networks for quality, variety and top-rated shows.
Peacock TV Streaming Service
For a fraction of the cost, TV streaming services provide 1000s of movies, TV shows and original series. Making a streaming service even more attractive is the fact that you can work around your own schedule. You can not only watch when you want but also where you want. They allow you to streamline your list of your interests, save a show mid-way through without missing anything or re-start from the beginning.
Each one offers something a little different and because most are relatively inexpensive you can consider mixing and matching to make sure you get exactly what you want. You’ll still be saving on an expensive cable bill even if you use several different services.
All of the big streaming services license out shows and movies from the studios and networks directly, as well as produce their own original content. Because of this, it’s worth taking the time to sample the different streaming services available to you to be sure they offer exactly what you are interested in.
Almost all streaming services offer a one week or 30-day free trial with no obligation to pay. So get some binge watching in and use the time you have before committing to a purchase. Many apps have an endless free service. Of course, the free service may be limited but if you can work within those limitations its a win!
The first step to picking the right service will always be looking for a service that offers the type of programming you enjoy. Second is your budget. Most streaming services are inexpensive compared to cable services so you can basically pick and choose based on programming only.
I’ve sampled my way through many streaming services. The problem I had with most of the ones I sampled was the network shows I am most interested in were limited. Not all seasons were available. Not all episodes were available.
- Netflix ($8.99 per month & up)
- HBO Max ($14.99 per month & up)
- Disney Plus ($6.99 per month & up)
- Hulu ($5.99 per month & up)
- Amazon Prime Video ($119 per year)
- Sling TV ($30 per month & up)
- Fubo TV ($64.99 per month & up)
- Crackle (free)
I found I had to jump between different streaming services to get the full line-up of seasons and episodes for my favorite binge-worthy TV shows.
Then, along came Peacock TV Streaming Service! Peacock works for me because my favorite programming happens to be what they offer. Because they offer a very comprehensive FREE option, you can easily add Peacock to your streaming list and expand your watching power.

Shows to Watch on Peacock TV Streaming Service
Old shows, new shows, movies, Peacock originals – I guarantee you will be able to find something you want to watch on Peacock.
I’m a huge follower of the Chicago shows – PD, Fire & Med but honestly always stuck mostly to PD. Since Peacock emerged I have been binge watching Fire and I’m not sure why I never focused on it before. I’m up to Season 6 (they are on the 9th season) so I’m almost all caught up.
One of the things that makes Peacock a hit for me is the streaming of current shows, like the #OneChicago hits, almost immediately after new episodes air. My schedule doesn’t always allow me to catch the newest episode when it airs so being able to watch less than 24 hours later – on my own schedule – is perfect for me.
Once I’m done I can easily start up on Med which is the youngest of the 3 #OneChicago shows. Because the original Chicago shows air on NBC, all seasons and all episodes are available on Peacock.
I honestly prefer many of the older TV cop/detective shows so having access to shows like Monk, Psych, The Commish, Magnum P.I. and all of the Law and Order early shows is definitely a plus for me. Some of the older Saturday Night Lives (before they got political) are hilarious!
I highly recommend giving Peacock a try. You will most likely find a movie or show that you might have forgotten about!
Free tier Peacock includes select series currently airing on NBC and other networks associated with Peacock. You’ll also get movies from the Universal back catalog, and classic older shows, including The Office, Parks and Recreation, Cheers and the Law & Order library.
Peacock Free also includes some news and sports content, so there really is no reason to pay for Premium unless you don’t want ads.
Peacock Premium will unlock all the entire catalogue of originals and big-name shows that Comcast calls “tentpole” series. Premium also delivers faster access to current shows, with episodes dropping the day after their original airing, just like on Hulu. Peacock Free and Premium will both stream movies, but Peacock Premium will get a tier of “premium” films.
