I recently had the opportunity to have dinner at Olivia’s Cafe located at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. I have always heard that Olivia’s offered a great breakfast so was hoping that my dinner experience would be wonderful as well.
I loved the atmosphere – very relaxed and casual. I loved the menu – a great variety and the prices were reasonable (entrees range from $15 to 29). I loved the choices we made for our meals – the food was excellent! My daughter and I started our meal sharing an order of Conch Fritters ($10.48) which were outstanding!
For dinner I ordered the Pork Chop ($21.99) and my daughter ordered the B-B-Q Ribs ($20.99). Both were enormous portions and the sides that came with each were delicious.
But…..here is the problem I had. Since there were several large (10 or over) groups dining in Olivia’s that night – the service was terrible. It seemed as though all servers were concentrating on getting the large groups taken care of which left small groups waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Although delicious, we were served our Conch Fritter appetizer with our meals almost 30 minutes after ordering. After eating only one or two, we decided to concentrate on our meals leaving the remainder untouched. I did note this to our server who removed the cost of the appetizer from our final bill. I am assuming the service was not up to par due to the many large groups dining that evening. I will say that one of the larger groups were sitting close by and consisted of 5 children and 8 adults – each of the items the children were served from the children’s menu looked wonderful and were very large portions.
Since the food was so good and they did make right the appetizer cost, I will give it another try on an up-coming trip.
