Marsh Landing Adventure Airboat Tours is something you will not want to miss when going to the Orlando area. It is located in St. Cloud, very close to Kissimmee. This is an airboat tour at the start of the Everglades to see nature at it‘s finest! The head water of the Everglades starts at Shingle Creek, which is a small waterway in Florida. It flows under the Beachline Expressway, Central Florida Greene Way and Osceola Parkway to Kissimmee in Osceola County where it turns east and flows into Lake Tohopekaliga, then into the Kissimmee River system to south Florida and the Everglades. I did not know how close the headwaters of the Everglades were. It was wonderful to take an airboat ride to see the beauty of the Everglades combined with an airboat tour by Marsh Landing Adventures!
I was amazed at how these boats just fly on top of the water. The tour started down a channel but after that, I am not sure how the Captain knew where to go. Yes it was “swampy” out there but, so beautiful! I also learned a lot about the wild life that lives there.
The airboat just whizzes across the water and sounds like an airplane. There are headphones if you need to wear them to cancel out the noise. Our choice was a 90-minute tour but there are two more, 60 and 120 minutes. Believe me the time goes by so quickly! I saw many alligators on the tour. They lay their eggs in a mound they build with grass in the swamp. The amazing thing is that the eggs at the bottom (cooler) are males and the eggs at the top (warmer) are females. I could not believe the temperature of the eggs determined male or female. The baby alligators are food for many of the wildlife and only a few will survive from 50 eggs.
There were also fish, birds, some extinct and many wild flowers on the tour many lily pads. I just loved the water lilies they are flowers with white and yellow in the middle. They are so pretty floating on top of the water! The view was just astonishing! There was so much greenery with the wildflowers and grass. Then, on the other hand, the airboats were so fun.
Do not worry since all of the airboat captains are US Coast Guard approved. Ask for Captain Scott he is so fun! Do not miss this experience at Marsh Landing Adventures. I just loved it! I am ready to go again!
