Magic Kingdom Ending “Rope Drop” Train Station Welcome Show

Magic Kingdom Rope Drop Train Station Show

Get to the Magic Kingdom for rope drop – hurry up – wait outside to see the welcome show on the balcony of the train station. Most of us have done it ~ waiting in front of the Railroad Station to start our day. As of January 9 – it will be no more! This has always been one of my favorite parts of my day at the Magic Kingdom.

New enhancements are coming to the way guests will experience the opening of Magic Kingdom Park – starting on January 9! If you’ve experienced the park’s “opening moment” during previous vacations, you may recall waiting at the front of the park to kick off the day.

Beginning January 9, guests will be allowed to enter the Main Street, U.S.A. area of the park even earlier than the park’s scheduled opening time. This will allow guests time to savor the charm of Main Street, U.S.A., enjoy breakfast or a warm drink at the Main Street Bakery featuring Starbucks. Then promptly at opening, a new welcome show will officially open the park for the day on the Castle Forecourt Stage. A Royal Herald will appear to deliver a proclamation and welcome a few familiar characters to the stage, officially opening the park so “the magic can begin!”

I’m disappointed. But as we all know, Disney is forever changing and moving forward so we can only hope will all come to love the new opening.

I have tried to find more info online about this and am coming up short. Are you sure they are eliminating the rope drop Welcome Show? Perhaps they will still do it, but earlier, allowing people to then browse Main Street.

Yes, I'm sure - here is a link to the information reported directly from Disney - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2016/12/a-new-way-to-start-your-day-at-magic-kingdom-park-begins-january-9/

Ooh! I kind of like this idea! I love the "Welcome Show" as it is now (I can't tell you how many times I've awoken my kiddos singing it,) but wandering through Main Street, U.S.A. earlier and shopping or getting my morning coffee before watching the new show sounds great! I'm excited to see what it will be like!

I'm torn. I love the train station show and I just have a hard time with change. I'm sure the new show will be great. It will just take some getting use to!
