Long Distance Flight Tips

If you fly long-distance then you know how frustrating it can be. You may find that your legs ache, and that you just get generally uncomfortable. If you want to make sure that you are going to be as comfortable as possible then this guide will tell you everything you need to know.

Your Carry-On Bag

If you want to make yourself feel calm and relaxed when you get off the plane then you need to try and pack a few travel-sized things in your carry-on bag. You need to pack things like a toothbrush, toothpaste and even a hairbrush. Brushing your teeth will really help you to feel refreshed and awake, not to mention that it will also help you to recover from jet lag.

If you have a pen and the address that you plan on staying at then this will help you out a lot here too, as it will mean that you can fill out any immigration forms without having to bother anyone else. If you know that you are going to have a hard time with jet lag then there are a few things that you can do, including staying awake on the plane or sleeping in the morning before to get your routine in place.

Sleep

If you want to up the ante, then why not take some earplugs, and even an eye mask with you. When you combine this with a neck pillow you will soon find that you can snuggle up and you can also get very comfortable. If you are flying in the Economy section, then this will help you to really feel at ease so you can get some shut-eye without being too irritable.

Enjoy some Entertainment

Time really does fly when you are having fun. If you want, you can watch a movie or even some TV shows. A lot of airlines will give you the chance to see what movies they are showing online. You can either plan the entertainment you are going to have on the plane, or you can take some of your own movies with you.

If you have Netflix then you may be able to download the movies to your device so you can easily view your titles when you are on the flight. That being said, even though movies are the ideal way for you to distract yourself when you’re on a flight, there is a chance that the entertainment system will be down, so it helps to have a back-up plan in this instance.

This could involve you having some music or even some games to play, so you won’t have to worry about staring at the screen for the entire journey with nothing to do.

Mind the Legroom

Carry-on luggage is ideal but if you have to put it in front of you and you don’t have a lot of legroom as it is, then this can cause you issues. You need to make sure that you put any luggage that you have in the overhead so you can stretch your legs and your feet out. This will help you a lot during your journey.

Pack Snacks

Being hungry can always be uncomfortable and hunger on a plane means either caving in and buying the outrageously expensive snacks on board, or sitting there and waiting till the next meal is served — if meals are being served.

Your best bet is to bring protein-rich snacks that will keep you feeling full longer. Think almonds, peanut butter and crackers, cheese, yogurt, or even protein bars.

With that said, according to Web MD, it’s harder to digest while in the air, so although it’s okay to eat, filling up isn’t the best idea. In fact, depending on how long your flight is, you might want to eat just before boarding, and eat only snacks while on the plane.
