Live Action Beauty and the Beast

Without a doubt Beauty and the Beast is one of my very favorite movies and it being re-made as a live action film has me beyond excited. As a huge fan of so many Disney classics, I become more and more thrilled with each new film or re-make because I want to share my favorites with my children and grandchildren. My granddaughter loves Belle too, so I know her and I will have a great day together to see this new re-make when it comes out!

Among Disney’s slate of live-action remakes of classic animated movies is Beauty and the Beast. Unlike Maleficent and Cinderella before it, the film will follow in the footsteps of its animated counterpart by being a musical. However, as with any adaptation, there are bound to be changes from the “original” story, and in this case, moviegoers will be treated to some extra songs added to the lineup of music.

Beauty and the Beast is the re-telling of the love story between the Beast, a human-prince-turned-monstrous-creature, and Belle, an intelligent young woman he imprisons in his castle. The film’s impressive cast consists of Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, and Stanley Tucci as a new character,  Cadenza.

It has been revealed that three new songs have been created for this live action movie. One of the songs is called “Days in the Sun,” and is described as a “lullaby” about all of the castle’s enchanted objects remembering what their lives were like as humans before they were transformed by the curse. Another one of the songs is “Forever More,” which has Beast singing about finally knowing what love is. Although there won’t be any songs from the Broadway production included in the film, we can look forward to most of the songs from the animated movie being included.
