Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom is one of my husband’s favorite spots. He likes the colonial style atmosphere and the all-American food. Although not one of my “must do” spots for lunch or dinner, I will admit that each time he travels with me and insists on eating there, I have always enjoyed my meal.

The Liberty Tree Tavern is made up of (6) individual rooms each themed for a historical U. S. figure: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Paul Revere, John Paul Jones, Betsy Ross and George Washington. You can roam from room to room to see items associated with each of them. The rooms are wood paneled with grand fireplaces and period portraits and overall a very restful atmosphere.

Liberty Tree Tavern serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to  9:30 p.m., and they accept and recommend reservations for both. Prices are reasonable for the amount and quality of food, ranging from $15 to $30. The Disney Dining Plan is accepted and you will be charged one table service credit if using the plan.

The menu, although not large, offers something for everyone including traditional roast turkey dinner, pot roast, a stew and a pasta dish. The highlight of my meal each time is I visit the Liberty Tree Tavern is dessert – the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is definitely something that everyone should try at least once! It is a perfect mix of cake, toffee, caramel and vanilla ice cream. I have more than once just enjoyed a hearty appetizer (crab and spinach dip for two) so that I was sure to have room for my dessert.
