I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not much of an action movie lover. I do love me some Star Wars Episodes IV, V,and VI, or I’ll sit down and watch a Marvel movie at home with my husband while checking email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. When given the opportunity to see a preview I figured I could handle a couple of hours of watching Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. I even sported a Hulk shirt to throw some support to my favorite Avenger.
First, the synopsis. Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Well I left that movie theater a total Avengers Fangirl!! It was the total movie package.
One of the reasons I love Disney so much is because of their ability to tell a story through their movies and attractions. Marvel shared more information on these characters and humanized them for me to feel their pains and triumphs. While we were able to take a glimpse into their individual pasts, we also watched their story on becoming a united team unfold. It was still a glimpse though and left me wanting more to see how their stories further develop.
I loved seeing these actors together onscreen. Their chemistry is undeniable. Friendships, romance, siblings, whatever the case, the relationships were all believable and entertaining. There is nothing better than watching a movie and never having to question a relationship’s authenticity.
An Evil Villain
Every movie has to have one, right? Well when one is so awesomely nightmare inducing by just the sound of his voice, you know you’ve done your job right. James Spader as Ultron is so amazingly evil. His voice still sends chills down my spine.
Action, Action, and More Action
I’m not a blood and guts type of girl. I don’t like shoot ’em up movies where carnage is lying all around. I do like suspense and not knowing what’s about to happen next. Just as I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen, something happened. I would let out a little breath and relax in my seat a bit, then BAM! Even more awesome appeared! Chewed fingernails are always a sign that things are tense, and I left with nubs.
I like funny. I like to laugh. I like to snort laugh. Combine that with all of the above and ding ding ding. Winner winner, chicken dinner. They even carried out a joke throughout the whole film. That’s commitment.
Admittedly, I went in with low expectations and came out a huge fangirl needing to buy all the Avengers things. At the very least I expect to be entertained when watching a movie. I was more than entertained, felt all the feels, and will now have a movie marathon with all the past Thors, Captain Americas, and Ironmans I missed. Popcorn, anyone?
