Is the Great Wolf Lodge Coming to Orlando?

All the families that love the Great Wolf Lodge are in for a treat ~ and all those families that have never been, will want to give it a try! The indoor water park/resort combination, with over a dozen water parks and resorts around the country, this week finalized a deal to purchase 50 acres near Walt Disney World® for a new resort.

Great Wolf Lodge invites families to explore the possibilities! Offering an amazing family vacation adventure for every wolf in your pack. Starting with their huge indoor water park and continuing throughout the lodge, you’ll find something fun for every member of your family: all under one roof! Most of their accommodations are suites which are perfect for families. I actually think it’s a good move to build another one of their lodges close to Walt Disney World.

Great Wolf Lodge has not confirmed or denied much other then to confirm the land purchase and to say the plans would call for an 800 room hotel. It is assumed that the Great Wolf Lodge is planning to offer visitors a more reasonably priced alternation to Walt Disney World resort hotel properties with the added advantage and amenity of their own water park and activities.

The land purchased is located just east of Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney), on the other side of Interstate 4, and  sits next to the Orlando World Center Marriott and Sheraton Vistana Resorts Villas Lake Buena Vista. The resort, if built in the same manner as other Great Wolf Lodges, would also include restaurants, arcades, spas, fitness rooms and other children activity centers. Most Great Wolf properties come with several water-park activities such as water slides, raft slides, interactive pools and lagoons, water cannons and other activities and attractions that include rope courses, bowling alleys and 4-D theaters.

The Great Wolf Lodge company is planning to open a resort near Disneyland in Garden Grove, California within the next few months, as well. That location includes 600 rooms (with space for 200 more) and an indoor/outdoor 110,000 sq. ft. water park with 14 slides.

Rumor has the new location in Orlando being the largest of all of the company’s resorts. No timeline for this new resort has been announced, but based on former construction timelines, the Orlando resort will likely take 18-24 months to build placing the opening date in the 2017/2018 range.
