A Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course is an outdoor experience that provides you with 2-3 hours of outdoor fun and exercise. The result is spectacular! Your adventure starts when you are equipped with harnesses, pulleys and carabiners, given a 30 minute safety briefing and training and then you are let loose into the forest canopy, free to fly on zip lines, swing through the trees, and observe the surroundings. Of course, instructors are always on hand, regularly patrolling the forests. This is a perfect group activity!
Go Ape at North Myrtle Beach is South Carolina’s first Zip Line and Treetop Adventure course and is just minutes from the Grand Strand. Set within beautiful North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, the course includes 5 zip lines, with 2 taking you across a 25 acre clear blue lake on the Southeast side of the park. The views are simply stunning as you zip over the water from one side of the lake to the next.
Bordering North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex’s Lake Side Trail, Go Ape is set within the woods behind the Sandhills Bank Amphitheater. More than just a canopy tour, the course is made up of numerous rope ladders, 40 exciting crossings to include the Spiders Web, Zigzag Bridge, Flying Carpet and Jungle Crossing, 2 Tarzan swings and 5 zip lines. Overall, there are 5 individual sections within the course, each section taking you higher into the forest canopy and finishing with a zip line! Zip line #4 is over 600 feet and zip line #5 is Go Ape’s longest zip yet at over 900 feet! The entire course, spanning 6 acres, consists of over 2,440 feet worth of zip lines, providing some of the longest zip-lining experiences in the state and region!
The Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course does require a degree of physical fitness but if you can climb up a rope ladder you should be fine. There are some participant restrictions that are created to ensure you have a fun and safe experience.

Minimum height: 4ft 7in (55 inches)
Maximum weight: 285 lbs (subject to harness fit)
The pre-adventure training was more than sufficient, excellent in fact, to make our group feel comfortable setting out on our experience. The quality and maintenance of the equipment used is outstanding. We were led through a series of smaller scale areas that allowed us to learn to use the harnesses and pulleys. The full course takes 2 to 3 hours to complete. This is a very physical activity so waivers are a must. There are areas within the course that allow you to by-pass certain activities if you are unsure of your ability to participate. There are no phones or cameras allowed unless they are strapped to your wrist or clothing and there is a safe and secure storage for these items before you begin the course. This is a must for safety reasons since your hands must be free, as well as the risk of dropping your items into the jungle below. There is cold, clean water available throughout the course.
Amazing is the only way to describe this experience! It was a wonderful afternoon spent “hanging” around with friends! Some of our group went into the experience with lots of apprehension but the training period quickly eased any feelings of fear. The safety measures taken are evident throughout each step and the experience is something we definitely want to do again. This is a perfect family or group activity. Reservations are recommended to ensure your group can all participate at the same time since only a limited number of people are allowed on the course at the same time.
