The Galapagos Islands are strictly monitored and protected, with tourists being restricted to specific areas – and with those specific areas being carefully watched, as well.
These days, it’s difficult to find places that are truly “unspoiled” that don’t bear a lot of marks of human interaction and habitation.
On a visit to the Galapagos Islands, you can charter a small boat, and have a guide sail you around some of the most pristine areas you could hope to see you, while pointing out areas of particular interest. You’re not likely to find yourself constantly interrupted by major motorways, and bustling urban metropolises.

On a trip to the Galapagos Islands, you can see the famous Galapagos Giant Tortoises, seals, sea turtles, iguanas, snakes, Darwin’s famous finches, killer whales, dolphins, and much more.
If you’re interested in seeing exotic animals, there are few places in the world as worthy of a visit as the Galapagos Islands.

As mentioned above, just about everyone has heard of the Galapagos Islands, but only a comparatively small number of people have actually visited.

Of course, if the tourist industry of Galapagos grew dramatically, that would present a potential ecological crisis. But, as long as the place is well maintained and regulated, and you act responsible on your visit as a tourist, you will be able to boast that you are one of the few who has ever actually set foot on the islands.
If you’re sharing holiday anecdotes with your friends, “I went to visit Florence” or “I spent a week in Tokyo” are all well and good. But it’ll be hard to beat “I went to visit Galapagos.”
