We all know it’s almost time for Frozen 2 right? Frozen was such a huge hit, full of so many lovable characters. I know I always wanted to know why Elsa was born with magical powers – Will we find out in Frozen 2?
Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she hopes they are enough. “Frozen 2” opens in U.S. theaters on November. 22, 2019.
Guess what? I already know the answer because I got to see Frozen 2 early (right after walking the red carpet) . . . but I won’t spoil it for you just yet. Instead we’ll chat about the Frozen 2 red carpet.
The Red Carpet Experience
I grew up in an area of New Jersey that was a ten minute ride to New York City. I spent lots of time in the city regularly walking by, shopping, eating next to celebrities. It was common – it wasn’t a huge deal. Most times they were with their family and you learn early on to respect their privacy. I’m not a crazy “fan girl” kind of person because of those early experiences.
When I was a kid (a billion years ago) the Rolling Stones slept on my living room floor once (a story for another time). When I was raising my kids it was common for us to ride attractions at the county fair next to Bruce Springsteen and his kids or eat pizza in the local pizzeria next to Jon Bon Jovi and his kids. Bill Murray owns a home in the same community where my mom used to live (and he has been known to torture tease my chef daughter at a local restaurant) and my own little town of Myrtle Beach is over-run with celebrities who play golf on the Monday after the Masters with Hootie and the Blowfish.
So, as with other red carpet experiences in the past, when I learned I would be heading to the Frozen 2 red carpet, I was excited for the experience but never thought I would get an over the top – crazy excited – Oh My Gosh I Can’t Contain Myself – crazy feeling about it. I’m just not that kind of “fan girl.”
Walking the red carpet is an odd experience for a grandmother from South Carolina. It isn’t nerves – it’s more of a complete and total “what the hell am I doing here” feeling! Seeing these things on television doesn’t prepare you for walking in the middle of it.
The Frozen 2 premiere happened at the Dolby Theater (home of the Oscars) on November 7, 2019, which in itself is always an exciting place to visit! Imagine walking the same red carpet as all those Oscar people! It does make you feel special.
I wanted to dress in something “Frozen” fancy – I wanted to channel my inner Elsa and searched on-line for a dress I thought screamed “FROZEN” without looking like a costume. When it arrived and I put it on, I was thrilled when my husband, with no prompting, looked at me and said “that looks like that Disney movie ice girl”. I guess the dress I picked nailed the look!
Watching the celebrities be interviewed is always a great experience. Watching them mingle with their family and kids in tow is different. You realize quickly that as famous as many of them are and how great they make you feel when you watch their movies – they are basically moms and dads.
It’s a bit nostalgic for me because it takes me back to when I was young walking around New York and when my kids were young swimming with Bruce Springsteen at the local beach club.
“Some people are worth melting for.” – Olaf
For some reason this red carpet was much more exciting for me. I think because I absolutely love Josh Gad. Each time he speaks he just cracks me up!
I’ll admit to being just a little jealous of this picture but because of my early life experiences with celebrities I’m not as adventurous as some of the other girls when it comes to getting a selfie with the stars – but that’s o.k.
I love watching all of them get such a huge kick out of it and they all looked absolutely stunning! Since I’m usually the oldest in the group, the mother in me really gets a huge kick out of watching them get all dressed up and have so much fun.
But check out the way Olaf is lovingly looking at me!!!
Walking the red carpet in Hollywood is one of those life experiences that is hard to explain so let’s just leave it at – OMG!
The Movie – Frozen 2
After walking the red carpet and checking out the stars, we screened Frozen 2. Before the movie started all of the cast and creators came together on stage to take a bow – super exciting moment! Since we were also treated to some really great seats, as the stars left the stage to head to their own seats, they walked right by and were totally friendly and animated (see what I did there. . .)
I also love sitting in these screenings with the seats full of stars, their families, animators that worked so hard for so long with their families, creators of the film, creators of the music and experience them sending out roaring cheers when their moment of animation appears on the screen – their song – their line – the character they pretended to be for so long – It’s a strangely odd and emotional feeling, to be there and share in the pride and to share in the excitement of all of these talented individuals as they see what they created come to life.
That’s about all you’ll get from me right now – You’ll have to wait a bit to hear all about Frozen 2.
The After Party
As if walking the red carpet wasn’t enough and seeing Frozen 2 way before the rest of the world, I was also invited to attend the after party and to mingle with all those that mingle when a new movie comes out. It’s all about the MINGLE!
The after party offered a great variety of food and drinks and the opportunity to mingle with everyone that made Frozen 2 possible. Nobody throws a party like Disney throws a party! The food (delicious) was catered by Wolfgang Puck and there was a side station from McDonalds to showcase the new Frozen 2 Happy Meals.
I’m always fascinated seeing some of Hollywood’s famous with their kids/families, just being moms and dads. Just every day ordinary people that are blessed to be talented. Every day ordinary people that love to entertain and make others smile, laugh or cry through their craft – and – they have the most fun job in the world!
I’ll be letting you know soon what I thought about Frozen 2. All I can say now is that you will definitely be surprised! – and NO! I won’t tell you before I can tell you, so – Let It Go!
While you wait for me to spill the beans, try making some of these Olaf dessert cups! Aren’t they cute? They’re yummy too! You can get the recipe and instructions right HERE.
