Free – What!!!! – at Walt Disney World!!! OMG! Well, the party is free but the desserts aren’t!
Each Wednesday in July to celebrate the release of Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” the Grand Floridian Resort held a whimsical party where the most nonsensical food and drinks make the most sense! From 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the outdoor patio by Gasparilla Island Grill, food and drink offerings will be available for purchase while you enjoy a splendid view of Wishes nighttime spectacular. Don’t be late! There has been no wide-spread advertisement for this event because it’s free. It has been listed in the daily activity sheets provided to guests staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.
Now, we all know that dessert parties are the rage at Walt Disney World. Disney usually charges a fee to attend a dessert party but has been holding a free dessert party during July at Disney’s Grand Floridian. Could this have been an experiment of sorts for a new style of dessert party that may be offered at the resort hotels in the future?
The Gone Mad Party at the Grand Floridian gives guests a unique view of Wishes fireworks spectacular, and allows guests to purchase special Alice in Wonderland-themed treats and drinks while enjoying music before the Wishes audio is piped in during the show.
If this proves to be a hit for Disney, maybe we can expect it continue in the future, with other free dessert parties popping up in other locations around Walt Disney World hotels.
