DoubleTree by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront is the Place to Stay at the Beach – #MyMyrtleBeach

What a great hashtag! Why . . . because it really is my Myrtle Beach. I live here. Well, I actually live just about 10 miles south in a glorious little spot called Murrells Inlet, but Myrtle Beach is where so much happens!

I recently spent several days at a conference (Travel South USA) in Myrtle Beach. Part of the conference had us touring around the area which is actually in my own backyard. As a local I know so much about all there is to do and see but I rarely do or see any of it because, well – life.

We often take the place we live for granted when it comes to all that is offered for visitors, but I definitely love all there is to do in Myrtle Beach!

Sixty miles of picture-perfect coastline. Oceanfront hotels, resorts, condo rentals, beach homes and vacation rentals. A perfect family vacation destination.

Myrtle Beach is commonly referred to as the Grand Strand. The area has a 60-mile long stretch of beach, golf courses, boardwalks, restaurants and amusement parks!

If you will be visiting my neck of the woods anytime soon, here are some things to think about.

Where to Stay – DoubleTree by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront

Although I like to have easy access to all there is to do, I don’t want it right outside my hotel door. I like serenity. I like beautiful scenery and lots of comfort when I travel.

If you’re like me – I have the perfect spot for you – The DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront. It’s a mouthful but worth saying it over and over again! This is definitely the perfect location, the perfect view, the perfect price and more.

Located at 3200 South Ocean BoulevardMyrtle Beach, the resort is close to the airport and easy to get to via car. The resort is definitely the place to stay when visiting Myrtle Beach.

The resort has a stunning and beautiful private beach, loads of amenities and plenty of activities in the perfect location – close to all that Myrtle Beach has to offer without being right in the middle of it all.

Every room – yes, EVERY room offers a balcony with a stunning ocean view. No extra price for a premium balcony room here! I love having a room with a great view and a nice balcony spot to enjoy my coffee in the morning or a little glass of wine in the evening. Unfortunately many resorts offer a limited number of rooms with balconies and charge a premium price for those rooms. Not here! EVERY room offers a balcony.

Complimentary WiFi, a 40-inch HDTV, mini-refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are also in every room. One-bedroom suites are perfect for families, with a king bed or two queen beds plus a living area with sofa sleeper.

These rooms can also connect to a single room to make a larger suite for bigger families. Accessible rooms and pet friendly rooms are also available.

This resort is basically what every family needs in a vacation destination!

Multiple outdoor pools, two indoor pools, lazy rivers and kiddie pools as well as a fitness center make it hard to leave the resort to explore the rest of Myrtle Beach. Yes, MULTIPLE pools! No fighting for a spot to relax and enjoy the outdoor weather. Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can still enjoy a swim indoors!

Food at the resort is easy to come by and delicious too! All day dining in Ocean Blue, food and beverage service at a pool cabana, room service, The Market Grab ‘n Go and the pool bar all add to your stay at the DoubleTree.

Add these to all the local restaurants to enjoy and you’ll never be hungry. You may even go home just a little heavier!

The Beach

The beach remains the number one reason why people visit Myrtle Beach and the DoubleTree has it’s own private beach!

Early morning beach walks, late night strolls, and all day sunning and swimming along the beaches of the area offer some of the best relaxing vacation spots along the east coast.

Because of the beach, there are a vast amount of water activities in the area – parasailing, jet ski rental, fishing charters, and kayaking are among some of the fun activities you can have in the water.

Myrtle Beach is home to 2 state parks. Both very different from each other. Myrtle Beach State Park is within minutes of the DoubleTree by Hilton and the airport. Huntington Beach State Park is about 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach.

Both parks give you the opportunity to see undeveloped maritime forests that haven’t changed in centuries. Both offer beautiful and pristine beaches for swimming and sites for camping and the beaches of the state parks rarely seem crowded.

Golf – Golf – and More Golf

The area is home to more than 100 golf courses suited to a range of skill levels.  The well manicured courses up and down the coast attract golfers from around the country.

Miniature golf courses line the Myrtle Beach area with a wide variety of themes; pirate adventures, jungle safaris, castaway islands, and even prehistoric golf with dinosaurs on every hole. Not surprisingly, the Grand Strand is also host of the Masters of Mini Golf tournament each year.

Shopping

Beach shopping in the area can be over-whelming. Every corner seems to have a different beachwear store, all competing for customers, all full of towels, chairs, and Myrtle Beach souvenirs.

If you want to shop while also be entertained, Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach are where you want to go. Entertainment complexes full of great shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Serious shoppers will want to hit Market Common, Coastal Grand Mall or Tanger Outlets.

However you want to shop, there’s a place for you in Myrtle Beach.

Food

Can you say “seafood?” Everywhere you turn there’s another spot advertising “calabash” seafood. Tip – “Calabash” seafood means breaded and fried so if you aren’t a fried fish eater – skip the calabash and head to one of hundreds of local restaurants that offer anything from seafood, Italian or good old American steak and potatoes.

Things to do

If you want to do nothing but chill on the beach, there’s lots of beach for you! If you want to add in some family fun your biggest problem will be trying to decide what to do since there’s so much to choose from.

Myrtle Beach Art Museum has eleven galleries, and always has free admission. The museum does have limited hours (10AM til 4PM most days), so be sure to check the website before planning your visit. Best of all – you can walk there from the DoubleTree!

There are a number of  bike and Segway rental companies in the area. Whether you want to leisurely pedal up and down Ocean Boulevard, or enjoy a guided tour on an electric motor-powered Segway, there are options for everyone. You can rent a beach cruiser, tandem, or mountain and trail bikes.

Nothing says “beach” quite like a visit to an iconic seaside boardwalk; great songs have been written in its honor. Because of the great weather, Myrtle Beach’s boardwalk runs all year long.

Along the Boardwalk you will find great food, great drinks, a beautiful ocean view and lots of fun and games! An evening stroll “along the boards” is a highlight for many visitors and locals too!

The area is full of zoos, animal sanctuaries, aquariums and wildlife attractions. Featured on National Geographic, The Travel Channel, and other national and international media outlets, these very special places should make it to every visitor’s (and local’s) bucket list.

From the rare and exotic, to the cute and cuddly, they’re all here and waiting for your visit. Alligator Adventure and Tiger Preservation Station are my favorites!

Obviously we have the beach and the Atlantic Ocean but sometimes you just don’t feel like building sand castles. Myrtle Beach has a few water parks to choose from full of slides, wave pools and lazy rivers.

Beach Bars! There’s no better way to spend an afternoon or evening than sipping a cold one along the beach! There are so many spots along the beach – each offering their own theme. Karaoke, dancing, sing-alongs – you name it, you will find a beach front bar that has it gong on!

Along the Grand Strand, the options for enjoying wine starts right at the grocery store and goes all the way to fine dining restaurants. There are many wine bars in the area focusing on pairing really good wine with really good food.

No matter what you prefer – there’s a perfect flavor and style for you. Myrtle Beach Wine Tasting and Shop (Duplin Wines), La Belle Amie Vineyard and Carolina Vineyards are just a few of the locations that offer tastings, festivals and fun!

Brookgreen Gardens is a sculpture and botanical garden that everyone visiting the area should see. As a local I go often and can spend days roaming among the sculptures and flowers. It’s calming and serene.

[easy-image-collage id=42056]

The thousands of acres in Brookgreen’s Lowcountry History and Wildlife Preserve are rich with evidence of the native plants and animals of the South Carolina Lowcountry as well as the rice plantations of the 1800’s. A small zoo and a boat ride through the old rice fields of a plantation are also located on the property.

I’ve only touched on a fews things to do when you visit Myrtle Beach. What are you waiting for? Plan to visit, explore and discover all the things you’ll find to do at the beach!
