Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Saratoga Springs ResortI just returned from a quick 3 day Walt Disney World® getaway. Rather than stay at the same favorite resorts over and over again, I now try to stay at different resorts to be able to review each of them first hand.

I had a reservation for a studio at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. It was just myself and my husband traveling so a studio would be more than enough room. The only special request I had noted on my reservation was for a first floor unit and for the unit to be as close to the Carriage House main building as possible. When I checked in, not only were both of my requests honored, but I was also given a free upgrade to a one bedroom unit. As thrilled as I was with the upgrade, I will admit that for just myself and my husband, this was just way too much room! If we were staying for a week, all the extra space, along with a full  kitchen (full size stove, full size refrigerator  dishwasher, microwave, dishes, pots pans, toaster, washer and dryer, etc.) would have been a great luxury – but for three quick nights it seemed like a little bit of a waste.

My thoughts on Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa: Wonderful!!! I loved every aspect of the resort, including the location (right next to Downtown Disney). It was literally a five minute boat ride directly into the heart of Downtown Disney. The resort is spread out, so if your unit is located in one of the further buildings, it will be quite a walk to get to the Carriage House – but it is a beautiful walk through well maintained areas and some units overlook the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course which is gorgeous!

I can honestly say I only have a few minor complaints:

  • Due to a sink hole, part of the main roadway around the resort was closed which made getting around by car or bus a little difficult. This also closed the bus stop for the section I was staying in, but a temporary bus stop was created (with tents for protection from the weather) a short way down the road. This is a temporary situation – which in no way reflects on the resort. Disney is working quickly to correct the problem.
  • The lighting in the vanity area that I wanted to use was poor. There was a second vanity area with much better lighting but the size of the counter surface is too small for make-up bag, hair things, etc.

That’s it for complaints! If you have the opportunity  I would highly recommend staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa!
