The inter-webs are all buzzing this morning with many people and Disney blogging sites indicating Disney’s latest statement means the parks will not open until June 1.
If I see one more headline that says “Disney Closed Until June 1” I think I’ll scream!
Here’s the latest information published by Disney:
The statement IS NOT saying the parks will not open until June 1. The statement is saying the following:
They do not know at this time when the parks will open. The only definite date that has so far been given for park closures was April 18.
Many people cancelled trips and rescheduled for dates in April or May. Those that were rescheduled for early April now have to be rescheduled a second time.
Disney simply doesn’t want people continuing to guess at a time in the next month or two for rescheduling purposes.
Can you imagine the massive load on the website and all of the reservations agents? Thousands of people having to reschedule over and over again,
Those that have reservations for the end of April or May have not yet had their reservations cancelled by Disney. This means if the parks do open by the end of April, they will not be so crowded that people are on top of each other.
No new reservations until after June 1 is crowd control for the possibility of the parks opening during late April or in May. It’s safety for their guests.
I’m not sure why many are saying that Disney has announced they aren’t opening parks and hotels until June 1. They are simply not taking new reservations and/or rescheduled reservations for dates prior to June 1.
