Everything at the Disney Parks tells a story ~ even a glass of wine. The Disney Family of Wines is a carefully selected and curated wine list featuring vineyards that have a connection to Disney in some way. Some of the connections are not in your face right there connections. You will really be surprised by some of them!
These wines can be found at many restaurants throughout the Disney Parks and Resorts, including Carthay Circle Restaurant and Alfresco Tasting Terrace at Disneyland Resort, and at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando at the Grand Floridian Café, Le Cellier in the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot and Be Our Guest Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. So how did these wines become members of the Disney family?
Skywalker Vineyards – Owned by George Lucas, creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Overlooking vineyards and originally designed as a winery, the picturesque Technical Building at Skywalker Ranch is headquarters to post-production industry leader Skywalker Sound.
Lasseter Family Winery – Owned by John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. The Lasseters feel that serendipity led them to their special vineyard property. At the time, the area was home to a significant number of French-speaking settlers, many of whom were growing grapes and producing wine. This heritage meshed perfectly with Nancy and John Lasseter’s love of French wines and the old world approach to wine making.
Silverado Vineyards – Owned by Diane Disney Miller, Walt Disney’s daughter and founder of the Walt Disney Family Museum. The winery’s name, Silverado, comes from the abandoned mining town at the top of the Napa Valley.
Gogi Wines – Owned by Kurt Russell, Disney Legend and actor who starred in more than 25 Disney movies, whose romance with wine began many years ago on bicycle trips with Goldie and their family through the great wine regions of France, Italy and California.
Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard – Owned by Fess Parker, Disney Legend and actor who portrayed Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone. The characters he portrayed, both Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, inspired generations of Americans.
Chappellet Winery – Owned by Frank Wells, former Disney President/CEO. Recognized as one of the great family-owned and run Napa Valley wineries, the history of Chappellet reflects the passion and commitment of a pioneering family.
MacMurray Estate Vineyard/Ranch – Owned by Fred MacMurray, Disney Legend and actor who starred in Disney movies, such as The Shaggy Dog and The Absent Minded Professor.
Frank Family Vineyards – Owned by Richard H. Frank, former President of The Walt Disney Studios and Chairman of Walt Disney Television.
