Disney’s Hollywood Studios was a half day park at best for the longest time. All that has changed recently. The addition of Toy Story Land and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge has moved the park back into the spotlight.
When you plan a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios you are going to need to keep a close watch on things. Some common mistakes made when planning your day here can lead to not having an enjoyable time.
Here are five things you shouldn’t do when planning a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Not Paying Attention to Extra Magic Hours
When you plan your trip and decide what date you want to schedule for your day at Hollywood Studios, check the Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours give you more time in the park either in the morning or evening. More time is always better.
A common mistake is to assume that the crowds attending the Extra Magic Hours will offset the benefit, but that is not often the case. Extra Magic Hours combined with strategic use of Fastpasses are a great way to get everything done in your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Fastpasses for Shows
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a small park with some of Walt Disney World’s most popular thrill rides. There is plenty to use Fastpass+ for, such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, and Slinky Dog Dash.
On the other hand, there are some exceptionally bad uses for Fastpass. If you plan on seeing any show during your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, don’t bother with a Fastpass. The shows do not fill up and they happen frequently. Often, shows will let guests into the theater within 20 minutes of each other.
Counter Service Food
The counter-service food options in Disney’s Hollywood Studios are not very impressive. Especially when you consider the fame of many of the table service restaurants available in the park.
The Hollywood Brown Derby, 50’s Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater are some of the iconic themed restaurants you can dine at. These places are a huge part of Hollywood Studios’ experience and the food is so much better.
Skipping a Long Wait
Another common mistake you’ll face in your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is walking away from a good attraction. You may have an opportunity to ride something you really want only to run into a long standby line. A long wait is not the end of the world, though.
By walking away you may actually be making it harder on yourself to have an enjoyable time. Say yes to long waits in order to experience attractions that are important to you. There are not many attractions in the park, so for your day at Hollywood Studios, don’t hesitate to try them out.
Not Enough Time
Because Hollywood Studios is such a small park, a common mistake is not giving yourself enough time to enjoy it. The park is more immersive than ever and has two themed areas to spend a lot of time in. It’s important to space activities and attractions out a little bit so there is not too much rushing throughout the day.
If you go easy on yourself, your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be more fun and magical.
