I was fortunate this holiday season to be able to spend time with my son at Walt Disney World Christmas week and it was very special. We met several family members but we went a few days early. We had a whirlwind of a vacation! To begin with we stayed a couple of nights at Pop Century and went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.
The party was so much fun filled with excitement and joy! From the snow on Main Street to the magical holiday fireworks, it was just very special. The party makes you feel special and like a VIP since the lines for rides are not very long. It is a special ticketed event so only a certain amount of tickets are sold. We were also able to purchase our one night Memory Maker just for the party. Not many people know about this special treat. For $40 plus tax you can purchase all of your pictures taken by Photo Pass Photographers for the party day and night. I love this and think it is a great bargain. The new decorations on Main Street in Magic Kingdom were just beautiful. Since we were there early in the day we were able to watch the, Festival of Fantasy Parade, from a great view!
There is so much to do at this party! My son Matthew and I sat down and decided in advance what we wanted to do since the time goes so quickly. I was laughing since Matthew did not want to do the Character Dance Parties or see the Characters anymore. Wow, time goes so quickly! Just yesterday he was four! Now at eleven he is too “old” for that. I am so very glad I have all of the memories from when he was young.
We watched the early, “Mickey’s One Upon A Christmas Parade” with a great view from Frontier land. It was wonderful! It makes Christmas feel so much like Christmas. What a joy! Next, was the Jingle Cruise. This year it was really decorated and had many different corny jokes! It was so much fun! Of course the Holiday Treats were great with my favorite snicker doodle cookies and hot chocolate so yummy! Everything tastes better at Magic Kingdom and The Walt Disney World® Resort. We ended the night with, “Celebrate The Magic and Holiday Wishes”. It was just wonderful! Oh yes the last thing we did was get our, Sorcerers of the Kingdom card. On the way out there are no lines.
We changed resorts and moved to Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort. After getting all finished moving to Bonnet Creek Resort we went to see the decorations at, The Boardwalk Resort. After all of the rumors about cars being towed at, The Contemporary Resort, I called to see if we could still park there and they said, “yes and for free”. They were very nice and did not know anything about the rumors. We just love the Boardwalk, and the nighttime entertainment there. My special tip is to park there and go anywhere you want to with the boats and buses. You see Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort is only about three blocks from the Boardwalk. We saw their beautiful Christmas decorations and the big gingerbread house they have out for Christmas. The biggest special gift for us the night we went was when Mickey and Minnie came out for pictures in their holiday fashions! What a big blessing to have our picture made with both of them! We were very excited! (Matthew included, he is a “Disney Geek” too but will not admit it).
Next, we went to Hollywood Studios to see the Osborn Dancing Lights. We had to go two nights since it poured rain the first night and they turned out the lights. They are one of our favorite things to see. So beautiful timed with the music………how we just love it! It’s glitter, it’s dazzle, the snow, just like a shower of bright colorful pixie dust with music!
We had to go to Magic Kingdom twice this trip it was so beautiful and fun! Christmas day we spent with our family at Animal Kingdom Kidani Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. My cousin was chosen as “Safari of the Day”. I thought it meant we were all going on a VIP Safari……Ha, it was an upgraded room and a family picture! This is something new I learned about. Has anyone else ever been Safari of the day? (Before Christmas Day, the whole family had been staying at Universal Orlando’s Portofino, and we all spent two days there. One at each of Universal Orlando’s two parks. Matthew and I were still staying at the Portofino but, we wanted to spend Christmas with the family so we drove to meet them at Animal Kingdom Kidani Lodge).
Guess what was out at the Lodge lobby for Christmas? My favorite snicker doodle cookies and apple cider. Another big treat! We had a wonderful time at Animal Kingdom, ate at Rainforest Cafe, went to visit in the family’s room and it was already time to say good bye. Matthew and I moved three times. We started at Pop Century, moved to Wyndham Bonnet Creek, then on to Universal Orlando’s Portofino. What a whirlwind, we stayed eight nights and the time just flew by. It was the best Christmas we had in years. When planning for next years Christmas make sure and see the decorations and the special events at the Walt Disney World® Resort. You will be so glad you did and have the special memories for years to come! It was just fabulous!
If you are planning for next years holidays I highly recommend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It gives you that special wondrous and merriment feeling of being a child again!
