With the holidays coming up soon I wanted to talk about the special events and decorations at The Walt Disney World Resort. There is nothing as special as being there for Christmas. The week before Christmas and New Years are the busiest when the parks can sometimes be full to capacity and have to close in special progressions.
It is so hard to describe the feeling of Christmas at The Walt Disney World Resort. Just walking down Main Street at Magic Kingdom you can see all of the astonishing and beautiful decorations! Next, you can feel the spirit of joy this cherished holiday brings to your heart. If it is evening and the sun has gone down you can see the beautiful Cinderella Castle lit up in glittery lights. And there is so much to do!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is running several nights in November and December. It is such a special treat to be able to go to this party! I love to see snow on Main Street! There are character greetings, dance parties, free hot cocoa, cider, cookies or apples! The parade called, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Time Parade is fabulous! It has a float with a hot cocoa smell! Talk about Mickey Magic! This party is top of the line! This is an extra ticketed event.
I also just love, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. This is the most lights I have ever seen in one place. It reminds me of being a small girl riding around looking at Christmas lights, and here they are all together. I love to get a cup of hot chocolate and a carrot cookie from the corner Writer’s Shop, sit on the sidewalk and listen to the music and watch the lights. The lights dance to the music, and it puts you in the holiday spirit! If you buy glasses the lights will be in 3D.
Holidays Around the World at Epcot showcases the different countries Christmas customs and traditions. Each country has a narrator to talk about their Christmas traditions for 5-10 minutes. The Candlelight Processional is part of this celebration. It has a celebrity narrator telling the story of Christmas with a choral concert and orchestra. This event is included with park admission but, the best way to see it is to combine it with a dinner package. This will guarantee you a seat since this is a very popular event and seats fill up very quickly!
There is nothing like a trip to Walt Disney World to get you into the holiday spirit. I love going at this time of year to feel the snow on my face, hear the holiday music, see the holiday decorations, smell the hot chocolate, and taste all of the scrumptious deserts. It’s just like magic!
