Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks – Watch the Trailer Here! #BridgeOfSpies

Sharing is caring!

When I saw the line-up of movies for 2015 there was a “stilled un-named” movie listed for opening in October of 2015.  Here is how it was listed:

The Untitled Steven Spielberg Cold War Spy Thriller – October 16, 2015 – DreamWorks Pictures: Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are once again joining forces for this still-untitled drama that tells the true story of James Donovan, a lawyer working on behalf of the CIA to secretly negotiate the release of a U.S. pilot shot down over Soviet airspace in 1960.  Tom Hanks fills the role of Donovan in the picture, which boasts a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen.  When speaking about the upcoming movie, Spielberg revealed what appealed to him the most about bringing this particular project to life: “I’ve always wanted to make a spy movie, and this is that and then some.”

My initial reaction was Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg – perfect! I know I’ll be showing my age here but I started being a fan of Tom Hanks early in his career, way back in 1980, when he was on TV in “Bosom Buddies” with Peter Scolari and Donna Dixon. A very funny sitcom about two single men who disguise themselves as women to live in the one apartment they can afford.

I have followed his career since then and have seen him move through many roles and have loved every single one so I knew this un-named movie would be great, no matter what they decided to title it! Well, that movie now has a title – Bridge of Spies. The movie is a dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, DreamWorks Pictures/Fox 2000 Pictures’ “Bridge of Spies” tells the story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. Screenwriters Matt Charman and Ethan Coen & Joel Coen have woven this remarkable experience in Donovan’s life into a story inspired by true events that captures the essence of a man who risked everything and vividly brings his personal journey to life.

After watching the trailer, I’m thrilled and can’t wait to see one of my favorite actors bring this movie to life.
