When staying in Orlando, the area you choose will depend on the activities you choose to do. Are you there for amusement parks, for fun, or business? Do you have a large family that likes lots of high energy activities? Or a couple with no children on a honeymoon. Orlando is full of day time and night time activities.
Best Resorts in Orlando Area
Orlando is centrally located in Florida, which makes it great for day trips out of the city. The ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, or even a day trip to NASA space center.
I prefer the Lake Buena Vista area. It is filled with family friendly properties. Choosing the type of place you want to stay is very important. Do you just need a hotel room or need something bigger like a family friendly resort condo. A weeks stay in a hotel room can be just as cheap or expensive as a stay in a one bedroom condo.
The condos usually have fully equipped kitchens, in room laundry facilities, and separate bedrooms. Hotels are just usually just a single room.
You need to choose the type of accommodation’s you want to stay in first. Then choose the area you want to stay in. The area you choose to stay in will set the mood for your entire vacation.
The Disney area is a great experience. If you aren’t going to do anything but theme parks then a Disney resort is for you. Disney offers everything from economy basic hotel rooms to the upscale 4 star rooms. Disney also has a campground. You can pitch your own tent, bring a camper or rent a cabin at Disney’s campground.
Each resort has it’s own themeing. One resort will take you to the movies while another will take you into the wilderness. All resorts have on site restaurants. Once you arrive in Orlando the Disney team will pick you up at the airport and deliver you and your luggage to your resort of choice. They also provide free transportation to and from all of their own theme parks and water parks. If you choose not to stay on Disney property you will definitely need a car.
Staying on-site does have its advantages. Resort guests get extra magic hours at different theme parks. During these hours the theme parks are only open to resort guests of Walt Disney World. The parks stay open later or open earlier just for their resort guests.
Best Resort in Disney Springs
If the cost of a Walt Disney World resort is too high for your budget, there are plenty of “good neighbor” Disney resorts that can help you save money while still giving you many of the same amenities and extras that an actual WDW resort gives.
My favorite is the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista and Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista – both located at Disney Springs, on the same property. The Wyndham (as I call it) is the closest resort to Disney Springs and just a quick 5 minute walk into Disney Springs.
The resort has recently completed a re-imagination and multi-million-dollar guest room renovation. The Wyndham features two distinct hotel offerings with many shared amenities. The guest room renovation includes 394 newly reimagined Wyndham Garden-themed rooms for the value-minded guest and another 232 rooms in the upscale Wyndham LBV tower, which features a lake house motif.
As an official Disney World Resort, both the Wyndham LBV tower and Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista hotels offer round trip shuttle transportation to all Disney theme parks. Guests can also reap the added benefits of reserving advance FastPass+ and Extra Magic hours, where each day select parks and/or attractions are open earlier or later in the day.
The property is so inviting and relaxing, you may prefer to spend a few days around the pool instead of hitting the theme parks! The Oasis Aquatic playground pool and the Oasis Bar & Grill will definitely be spots for you to spend some time refreshing your spirit while you soak up the Florida sunshine.
The best part is that you get most of what you get at a WDW resort for a fraction of the cost. They also offer a character breakfast in their restaurant three days a week. With actual Disney characters – for a fraction of the cost of a Disney character meal.
Not only a fraction of the cost that makes the parents happy but the character (Pluto and Goofy) interactions are ideal for the kids who receive a great amount of attention without the over-crowding that happens at a Disney character meal.
All of the employees are friendly, helpful and eager to make your vacation special. The Bell Services employees are rock stars!
As we all think about traveling again after our stay at home time during Covid-19, both the Wyndham LBV Tower and the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista are offering great deals and special to help visitors come back to the magic and know that it’s safe to travel.
The Wyndham resorts have the safety of all of their visitors in mind and will be offering more hand sanitizer stations, plexiglass between front desk and guests. All guests will have temperature checks as soon as they cross the pedestrian bridge into Disney Springs.
