Among Disney’s list of live-action remakes of classics is Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is a re-telling of the love story between the Beast, a human-prince-turned-monstrous-creature, and Belle, the intelligent young woman he imprisons in his castle. The cast consists of Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Audra McDonald as Garderobe, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, and Stanley Tucci as the new character Cadenza.
As with any adaptation, there are bound to be changes from the “original” story, and in this case, we will be hearing some extra songs added to the lineup of music. Disney composer Alan Menken and partner Tim Rice have created three new songs for this film. One of the songs is called “Days in the Sun,” and is about all of the castle’s enchanted objects remembering what their lives were like as humans before they were transformed by the curse.
The photos released so far are stunningly beautiful and the trailer has me sitting on the edge of my seat and counting down the days!
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be released in theaters nationwide on March 17, 2017.
