I love coffee. Not iced coffee – not fancy flavored coffee – just coffee! I know I’m in the minority when I admit I’m not a fan of Starbucks. I do, however, like a good large cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee. I drink approximately 12 to 14 cups of coffee a day – sometimes a little more depending on the craziness of the day. Hot coffee – even in the summer. I’ve been known to drink hot coffee sitting around the pool or at the beach in the summer. So when I say I LOVE COFFEE – I really mean I LOVE COFFEE!!
When I travel, I always have some of my own coffee stashed away in my bag “just in case.” Fortunately ground coffee is allowed in your carry-on and in your luggage! I also bring along my own K-Cup adapter so that I’m covered no matter what type of pot my hotel offers.
More than half of Americans start their day with a cup of coffee but finding good brew while on the road isn’t always easy. Just because you’re away from home doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to caffeinate in style. And it starts with the type of coffee you choose.
Hotel coffee often tastes stale and watered down and gas station coffee is anything but fresh. So why not brew some of the freshest coffee in the world wherever you are?
I became a fan of Amor Perfecto the minute it arrived at my door – direct from Columbia! Each package is labeled with the harvest and roast dates. You immediately know how fresh your coffee is.
Is it expensive compared to normal coffee prices? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. If you truly love a good cup of coffee as much as I do, you’ll be willing to spend some extra $$.
About Amor Perfecto Coffee
Amor Perfecto is the ONLY coffee in the world harvested, roasted, and shipped straight from Colombia within 6-8 weeks of harvest, giving it a one-of-a kind flavor. By growing, roasting, and shipping straight from the source, the coffee beans are fresher than most and more environmentally friendly (since fewer hands are touching the beans). Most industry standard coffee doesn’t get to your coffee until 24-144+ weeks of harvest.
Amor Perfecto was born 25 years ago in a flower shop in Bogota, Colombia with one goal: to revolutionize coffee in a producing country. For over 200 years Colombia has been exporting green coffee beans to be roasted in consuming countries all over the world. In 1997, serving quality coffee in Colombia was not just radical, but illegal. They changed that. Now they want to change the entire game. The call it the decolonization of the industry.
Unlike other coffee roasters, Amor Perfecto’s work starts long before a single coffee cherry has been picked. Harvesting coffee in Colombia is more than just farming, it’s ritual. Something unique – mechanical harvesting practices are both illegal and impractical, meaning each perfectly ripe coffee cherry is picked by hand. And somewhere in Colombia is always in harvest, 365 days per year.
The harvesting practices are game changing as well. Most countries prefer strip harvesting by machine – an efficient, affordable but indiscriminate practice. However, in Colombia, Amor Perfecto knows where the term ‘cherry pick’ really comes from. Every single one of their coffee cherries is harvested by hand, and expertly so. This process, timely and costly, ensures that only the ripest cherries are selected, leaving the rest to continue to mature – awaiting their day to become Colombian coffee.
Immediately after harvest, the careful work of cleaning, sorting, fermenting, washing, and drying takes place. Studies show that about 60% of a coffee’s quality, flavors, and aromas come from the processing phase at the farm level, so nailing this part is critical for truly special, wonderful coffee.
The beans are sorted based on shape and size. A single fouled bean in 10,000 can ruin an entire batch, so a keen selection process is key to setting up a successful roast. Roasting at Amor Perfecto is done using state-of-the-art Loring Smart Roasters. The company designs and refines the roasting curves for each specific coffee, with the singular goal of bringing out the best of what already exists in the beans.
Roasting in the thin, clean Bogota air at nearly 9,000ft of elevation! Roasting at extreme altitudes means beans are exposed to less atmospheric oxygen during roasting and packaging (a whopping 25% less oxygen than roasting coffee at sea level.) The result is an amazingly fresh coffee with a longer lasting freshness.
Amor Perfecto Coffee stays in Colombia to be roasted and packaged before it is sold and sent directly to you. They have partnered with FedEx to bring you, truly, the World’s Freshest Coffee. The experience of drinking a coffee directly from its origin in just a few days is something totally new in the world of coffee. In fact, just a few short years ago this would have been completely unimaginable.
