Disclosure: I was provided with a medal hanger to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Every time I look at my Allied Medal Hanger from my bed, I swoon. Not only does it remind me of my happy place, it reminds me of the hard work I put in to earn every one of those medals. Each medal has a story. Each medal reminds me of my race, the people I ran with, the tears I shed at some time or another during training, the laughs I had while running, and the pride that I feel for actually starting to run.
This is what my medals used to hang on. No lie.
I used to see medal hangers online or from friend’s pictures and think, ‘I need to get one of those.’ But whether it was from lack of time, laziness, or because I kind of enjoyed the side eye my husband gave me when the medals clanging together would wake him up..I just never did. The tough part now was choosing. Allied Medal Hangers are gorgeous! Do I go Star Wars, girl power, Disney..or even do I send them my own original design? Yes, they have that option, too!
Ultimately, I decided on the Coast To Coast medal hanger, because getting my first runDisney Coast to Coast Challenge medal was one of my greatest accomplishments. And I’m a big Disney freak. Having just run Disney’s Princess Half Marathon the year before as my first race since high school, I decided to push myself and run the Tinker Bell Half Marathon and the Princess Half Marathon in 2014 to get the PINK coast to coast medal. I was well-trained and getting faster when after one of my half marathons in Virginia, I got an ITB injury that I could not shake. I probably should not have run the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, but I did, because of plans, money, daughter’s birthday..you know all the excuses. While not my finest race, it taught me a lot about myself, my friends and the running community, so I’m grateful for the experience. Then I got to travel to the other coast to run with old and new friends at Walt Disney World. My running experiences came full circle with Disney Parks, my training, internet friends, and a job I dreamed of for a long time on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
So after I chose my awesome medal hanger, I waited for my package (which got here super fast). I was so excited when I opened it….
And then saw THIS!!!!! Beautiful. It was very easy to hang up, and took less than 15 minutes. Our drills were out of batteries, so my husband just used a screwdriver. The details, quality, and craftsmanship are amazing. All my medals now hang nicely, and I can give my running story the respect it deserves.
