Last week I spent a few days at Walt Disney World® foolishly expecting lower crowd levels since the week before Christmas and the week after Christmas have historically been the crazy, busy times with early December being low to moderate crowds.
Most of the area was moderately crowded but Disney’s Hollywood Studios was a nightmare! On a Wednesday! I can’t imagine what the weekend would bring. Between this being the last year for the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights and the opening of the new Star Wars Launch Bay the crowds were the highest I have ever experienced at Hollywood Studios. The crowds were so bad that rather then stay to enjoy the Osborne lights – I left.
The parking lot has been at full capacity and closing all this week by around 1:30 in the afternoon. Think about the most horrible crowded day you have ever spent at the Magic Kingdom and that is what I experienced at Hollywood Studios at the end of last week. Shoulder to shoulder – everyone pushing – trying to get from one spot to another with no luck – crowded! Hollywood Studios has always been my “go to” park for a leisurely afternoon but at 6 p.m., 2 hours before park closing, I waited through the arrival of several buses back to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. I was able to get on the third bus that arrived.
If you are planning to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios before the end of the year – be prepared!
