Visiting Dubai is one of those bucket list items that just sits down at the bottom of the list. It’s been on my bucket list for years and will most likely stay on the list, unfulfilled. I would love to visit this beautiful place but the almost 20 hour plane trip and the cost combined leave me knowing it most likely won’t happen (unless I hit the Power Ball and can go first class!). I have always been fascinated by the way Dubai does things. Larger than life – over the top and the ultimate attention to detail. Dubai created an entire palm tree island – more accurately a series of islands that form a palm tree. Each island is host to a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment center and adds to the draw that makes Dubai a tourist mecca.

When you visit, you can rent a car in Dubai and take a ride through the desert, then sleep in an underwater suite, dine underwater, ski down indoor slopes and experience some of the best shopping in the world.

I love theme parks – all theme parks. A good theme park can entertain the entire family, from morning to night – for several days. An indoor theme park where weather is no issue; completely climate controlled and so large you don’t realize you are indoors – this is what Dubai has created and opened recently. IMG Worlds of Adventure is an amusement park that cost more than $1 billion dollars, took three years to build and is now the world’s largest indoor theme park at a staggering 1.5 million square feet (as big as 28 football fields). After all, Dubai does everything “over the top!”

Rides, movie screenings, live performances, shopping venues, and dining options all contained in a fully air-conditioned and climate controlled space. The indoor park offers several themed zones including a Marvel area that is based on the most popular super heroes; Cartoon Network zone; and, the Lost Valley full of dinosaur themed attractions. Getting hungry? Visit IMG Boulevard where you can sample cuisine from all over the world.

If it wasn’t for that almost 20 hour flight and the lack of funds, I would surely be moving Dubai up closer to the top of my traveler’s bucket list.
