5 Great Character Dining Experiences at Walt Disney World

Sharing is caring!

Character Dining Walt Disney World

One of the most magical experiences at Walt Disney World is character dining. There’s a certain magic in getting to meet your favorite character face to face during a meal. It can be overwhelming though going through all the decisions on which dining to do. There’s countless decisions, so I figured I’d make it a bit easier by adding five of the best places to try.

Be Our Guest Restaurant – Magic Kingdom

Character dining here is only available during dinner (not during breakfast or lunch). You dine in the Beast’s castle with French inspired food. Belle is not far away at the nearby Enchanted Tales with Belle, but the Beast greets guests after their dinner in the evenings and your visit with him will be a perfect photo opportunity. Due to the popularity of this restaurant, it’s wise to make reservations as soon as possible. Make sure you try the Grey Stuff for dessert, it’s delicious. Don’t take my word though, ask the dishes!

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall – Epcot

Princesses, princesses – everywhere princesses! Located in the Norway pavilion, the theme here is royal and the atmosphere shows it. You can meet the princesses throughout all three meals during the day. You meet Belle first in the greeting hall, and the rest of the princesses, who vary, wander around to meet you as you eat, and even lead all the tiny diners in a royal parade. Breakfast is mostly American staple, but lunch and dinner show more Scandinavian fare. It’s not served buffet style, but don’t be scared to ask for more food if you want it.

Tusker House – Animal Kingdom

Tusker House is designed to look like an African marketplace. Here you’ll meet Mickey and Pals dressed in Safari gear ready for autographs and photo opportunities. Don’t be afraid to ask for a selfie, they love them. Also, if you get there at the right time and have kids, the parade is a wonderful thing to participate in! Breakfast is more along the line of American fare but lunch and dinner have unique offerings. Try some hummus or maybe a plate of curried chicken. It’s nice to try something new for dinner.

Best Friend Breakfast at ‘Ohana – Disney’s Polynesian Resort

As you know, ‘Ohana means family so here everything is done family style and your servers are your ‘cousins’ for the morning. Lilo, Stitch, Mickey Mouse and Pluto all come around to greet you. Remember though, they’re only there for breakfast. Again, this is the typical food found at any Disney breakfast, but the overall quality is better. Probably because it’s brought out fresh instead of sitting under a heat lamp.

Chip ‘n Dale’s Harvest Feast Dinner at The Garden Grill – Epcot

Located in the Land Pavilion in Epcot, this character experience includes Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. Once again, all three meals are available daily for the characters. As you eat a family style meal, made from most stuff grown in the Land Pavilion, you circle on a slowly revolving floor to watch the different scenes from Living with the Land.

Hopefully this helps narrow down your options on where to dine. There’s so many magical choices, it’s hard to pick. Don’t forget to get a visit with everyone’s favorites – Mickey and Minnie – head to Chef Mickey’s where you’ll see them and Donald too! No matter what you pick though, you can expect wonderful memories and amazing food!
