I have not seen any official word from Disney or been able to locate any official statement or information regarding the cabanas.
Rumors have been flying all weekend about the appearance of 5 cabanas in the Magic Kingdom. The cabanas are located near the entrance to Space Mountain. The information available says these are 8 person cabanas offering air conditioning and snacks with the ability to order (at an extra cost) meals delivered. If the test in the Magic Kingdom is successful, the cabanas will be added to other parks as well. A little place for your family to sit during the day for an additional $650 for the day – theme park ticket not included.
It seems to me that Disney is going a little too far with this one. I don’t know about you, but why would I pay to get into a theme park for the day and then spend another $650 to sit in a cabana all day. Need a rest – go back to the resort you are already paying for and take a rest or a swim. As I always say when it comes to Disney – if they build it, people will pay for it. I’m a Disney lover but I still don’t think this is something I would be willing to pay for. Reports say they aren’t very attractive. To me, they look like the tents used when there is filming being done in the parks.
@Tom_Bricker (owner of DisneyTouristBlog.com) had an interesting discussion taking place on Twitter yesterday about the cabanas.
I would assume if the test is successful, permanent structures will be built throughout the parks. Part of the rumor indicates that permanent cabana structures are being included in the new lands being created at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios – what are your thoughts on these cabanas?
